Clotaire, a rebellious teenager from the neighbourhood, falls in love with his classmate Jackie, but gang violence leads him down a darker, more destructive path. After years apart, the star-crossed lovers find that every path they’ve taken leads them back together. Malik Frikah, who plays 17-year-old Clotaire in this film, was a world champion breakdancer at age 10. One of the characters wears a Rolex Daytona Ceramic from the 1990s, but the watch wasn’t released until 2016. Mes MainsMusic by Gilbert BécaudLyrics by Pierre Delanoë. The film is very long and quite uneven between its first part where the characters are teenagers and the second part, ten years later. The acting is really good. The young actors are fresh and authentic. Adèle and François are at the top. Alain Chabat is a big teddy bear and as always we would like to welcome Benoit Poolvoorde. The background music really sets the tone of the 80s in a small French industrial town. Mainly British and American songs but very rooted in the era. We finish the film with a smile on our face. It is not the best film of the year but a beautiful, crazy and passionate love story. Despite the irregularities, we follow Clotaire and Jackie to the end.
